Regional Laboratory Medicine belongs to Sahlgrenska University Hospital; Area 4 has a clear coordination mandate for the entire Region of Västra Götaland. The organization consists of the laboratory medicine operations at Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Hospitals in the West, and NU Hospital Group.

Specialist Physician with Regional Responsibility

Do you want to work in a socially critical area within one of Sweden's largest operational areas in diagnostics and transfusion medicine, where your medical work makes a direct difference for patients and the functioning of care? Then this might be the position for you.

We are now looking for a specialist physician with regional responsibility and a focus on transfusion medicine for the Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine (KITM) unit at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

About the Unit

Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine (KITM) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital operates throughout the Region of Västra Götaland and is responsible for blood donation, blood component supply, laboratory operations, and stem cell operations. We also conduct development and quality work at a high medical level.

The unit plays a central role in the region's healthcare and continuously works to develop the transfusion medicine of the future. Together with our employees, we contribute to safe, accessible, and evidence-based care for the region's inhabitants.

Responsibilities

In this role, you have an important medical and strategic role for the unit's transfusion medicine work in the region. You work closely with nurses, biomedical analysts, laboratory staff, and medical colleagues to ensure high quality, patient safety, and equal care.

The assignment includes contributing to the development of the unit and creating conditions for close collaboration between the region's different units.

Responsibilities include:

• Work within the unit's transfusion medicine operations.
• Medical responsibility and expert responsibility within defined areas.
• Participation in the development, implementation, and follow-up of methods, guidelines, and working practices.
• Participation in training and competence development initiatives for the unit's employees.
• Collaboration with other units within Sahlgrenska University Hospital as well as other healthcare providers in the region.

Employment and Location

The position is a permanent employment. Working hours are primarily during daytime on weekdays, but on-call duties in the evenings and weekends may be included. The primary location is Gothenburg, but travel within the Region of Västra Götaland occurs as a natural part of the assignment.

Qualifications

• Medical license, specialist competence in Transfusion Medicine, and at least two years of experience as a specialist.
• Interest in transfusion medicine, public health, and development.
• Good collaboration skills and professional demeanor.

Experience in quality work, process development, or regional collaboration is meritorious.
